The Card Counter, written and directed by Paul Schrader, follows William Tell (Oscar Isaac), a gambler and former serviceman who sets out to reform a young man seeking revenge on a mutual enemy from their past. The Card Counter stars Oscar Isaac and Willem Dafoe and was selected for the Venice Film Festival.
Cosmic Pictures performed the conform, online edit, and mastering for delivery of the film to Focus Features. Cosmic also coordinated visual effects with multiple artists and worked with the team at Company 3 as they executed the color grade. With the majority of finishing work on The Card Counter taking place during the spring of 2021, Cosmic navigated numerous restrictions impacting the collaborative work so important to this type of feature by hosting remote editorial and review sessions and implementing new technologies to allow team members in many locations to contribute seamlessly.
Many of the remote workflows first developed during post-production for The Card Counter are still in place at Cosmic today.
